"Something's Coming" on THURSDAY... West Side Story!
Plus: new block of FREE tickets for Monday's Carole King 101 released
Broadway has always been chock full of talented Jews. But the confluence of the foursome that put together West Side Story has never been matched. Composer Leonard Bernstein, book writer Arthur Laurents, choreographer Jerome Robbins, and lyricist Stephen Sondheim transformed the Romeo & Juliet tale into an enchanting, heartbreaking musical that presses all the right buttons. We’ll look at what makes the show so great on Thursday, December 10 at Noon ET. Tuition: $1 (includes Into the Woods the following week). Sign up: bitly.com/BenkofSondheim
Probably the most accomplished female singer-songwriter of the 20th century, Carole King wrote familiar music for other acts (Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, One Fine Day, and The Loco-Motion). But when her landmark album Tapestry was released in 1971, she truly came into her own, with songs like You've Got a Friend, So Far Away, and It's Too Late.
This FREE online class, Monday, December 14 at Noon ET, will look closely at her life, music, lyrics, and legacy.
Once registrations hit a maximum of 1,200 registrants no other tickets can be distributed, and I expect the course to fill up by the end of the week. Fewer than 175 tickets remain, so please sign up right away at bitly.com/BenkofCarole
