The Early Bird deadline for The Broadway Maven’s new MASTER CLASS on A Chorus Line is Tuesday. The class meets Thursday, June 9 at Noon and 7 pm ET.
Master classes:
involve 100% new content;
will not be recorded;
will NOT be repeated; and
cover shows at an advanced, sophisticated level.
What’s the origin of A Chorus Line and why was the show so fresh? What caused it to be the longest-running show in Broadway history? What did Marvin Hamlisch do musically to match the words and emotions of the characters with their songs? What’s hidden in the lyrics you might not have seen the first — or twenty-first — time? And what about those dances - which ones are consistent from production to production and which ones involve more varied choreography and even improvisation? We’ll look at some of the most significant numbers, including “I Can Do That”; “Nothing”; “What I Did for Love”; and, of course, “One.”
The tuition is $9 (save $3 off the regular rate).
Here’s the homework video, which will help students prepare by helping them differentiate among the 17 dancers on the chorus line:
